There is clear evidence in the Word of God that we can indeed be 100% certain we are on our way to Heaven. I John 5:13 says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God: that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life.” There are basically four things you need to know from the Bible to know that you are going to Heaven when you die.

1. Admit that you are a sinner.

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
The reason we “come short” of God’s glory (God’s righteous or perfect nature) is because “all have sinned.” “All” includes me, and it includes you. First of all, you must agree with the Bible and admit that you are a sinner.

2. There Is A Price On Sin

Romans 6:23a “For the wages of sin is death;”
This is speaking of eternal death, which is also called “the second death.”
Revelation 20:14 “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”
If you die in your sins, you must pay the penalty by suffering in Hell forever.

3. Understand that Christ paid for your sin.

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Although sin brings eternal death, God wants to give us eternal life. Notice that eternal life is not through church attendance, baptism, or good works. Eternal life only comes through faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

4. Ask Jesus Christ to be your Saviour.

Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Although Jesus died to pay for everyone’s sin, not everyone is on their way to Heaven. You must personally receive God’s gift of eternal life. You must believe in your heart that Jesus died on the Cross to pay for your sin and rose again from the dead.
